Did you know that Music Row is a tree-lined street with century old houses?

Yeah, me too!

Bill Monroe.  The sign said this mandolin was busted into shreds of wood and Gibson repaired it to its original condition.  And it held out for all the years that Mr. Monroe picked away.  I know this instrument was in the news recently where there was no owner or the person who bought – wasn’t it Vince Gill? – donated it to the museum.

Ever feel a “connection” to something? or someone?  I am lead to believe that there was a relationship between this instrument and Mr. Monroe.  They took care of each other.  Now it sits here, in its final resting place, next to Johnny Cash’s guitar.

Pottery October 27, 2005

I signed up for a pottery class thru the park district, tonight was my 1st class.  It was in a small shack behind a park where there was little street light.  The tall trees hid the moon-light, and the cabin-like resemblence of the studio could give one the creeps.  Open the door and you could be taken anywhere  your mind wants you to go.  Inside the studio, I molded wet dirt into a salsa bowl.  (its not a "salsa" bowl, but it was the only thing I could think of using the bowl for!)

I sat in silence, hands engrossed in the clay shaping, forming, smoothing.  My mind was at total ease and not anywhere near the planet earth.  Amazing what ambiance can do to ones psyche.
