London Calling! January 31, 2006

I just returned to the United States of America today, from England.

I had gone over the pond to visit with my sister & her family.  Good Times!  Good Times!

A summary you ask?  Why I’d love to share what I did while I was mingling with the Brits.

1.  We saw The World of Narnia in a building built sometime in the 1800’s.  (Great Movie!)
2.  Ate Curry.  Drank Glen Morangie – a scottish whiskey.
3.  Played with the kids (my favorite part).
4.  Sharon & I went shopping in London one day – popped into Harrod’s, rode the tube.
5.  Visited Old Wardour Castle, the castle in Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood.
6.  Visited Bath, England – the Roman Baths & Jane Austen’s house.
7.  Ate Bangers-n-Mash!

Overall, an excellent visit.  I miss my family.  Terribly.  I wish I was there with them everyday.  I want to go back, and soon.

I have a meeting @ 2pm today to go over items that I have been tasked with.  The attendees in this meeting are three people I work with on this particular project, one of them I know somewhat well, one I know will use whatever words that come out of my mouth against me and the other intimidates the hell out of me.  My current feeling?  Dread.

Dread, according to Merriam-Webster Online:

Entry Word: dread
Function: noun
Text: 1 suspicion or fear of future harm or misfortune <the dread felt by people awaiting bad news> — see
APPREHENSION 1
2 the emotion experienced in the presence or threat of danger <we were filled with dread when we saw the rapids we would be rafting down> — see
FEAR

Is this meeting going to be harmful to me?  Am I going to have any misfortune from this meeting?  Do I feel a presence or threat of danger?

My next thought – quit being so negative.

Nope that didn’t help – still have the dread.  I will breathe a sigh of relief at 3pm.  I will walk lighter and taller as the weight will have been lifted from my shoulders.

Somewhat.
