had to have these lights from ikea. of course there is no perfect place to hang them in my house. i choose the sliding glass door going to the patio … not sure i like them here either. but i do like them.
weirdly i am finding peace in watching the snowflakes find their way…
white trash tree December 2, 2007
my pre-lit tree is no longer pre-lit. i pulled it out of the box last night, put it together, plugged it in and nothing. no lights whatsoever. i unplugged and plugged 3 more times, nada. pissed, i went upstairs and pulled every strand of lights i had in my christmas box and threw them on the tree. i have 3 different types of lights … i have a strand at the bottom that has like 3 times as many lights as a regular strand. then i have a couple of normal strands, and then on the very top i have the flower lights.
on top of all of this, the top of the tree leans … 
i found these cards on paper source. tried something different this year, didnt put all the usual ornaments on the tree. used the cards instead. all i did was punch a eyelet thru the card and then added a hook and voila!
i like the crafty-new-unique feel it gives the tree. not so white trash anymore.

the great pumpkin September 24, 2007
everyone knows i love this time of year. the colors, the crisp weather, the high school football games. especially the pumpkins. last year i built a pumpkin snowman. this year, i have the great pumpkin.

last day of summer September 3, 2007
today is the last day of the summer. tomorrow starts the unofficial fall season, though we will still battle 90 degree weather for a couple more weeks. but the feeling in the air is football, sweaters and hot chocolate. love this time of year.
today is also the last day to do this….cannonball!
independence day July 4, 2007
today is july 4th. independence day. a good day.
yesterday, i trekked downtown chicago to see the fireworks. i havent been downtown on july 3rd in years. this was my first time for the fireworks. was a great time. was able to sit on a boat in the desable harbor and enjoy the nice evening with family, and watch an awesome fireworks show. and think about 200-some-odd years ago, some men were lighting off what they now call fireworks, celebrating.
amazing we are still doing the same thing today.
